Sencha Sakura

Japanese Loose Leaf Tea

Sakura is the ubiquitous flowering cherry tree planted in Japanese parks, along streets and within commons and yards. During late March through May, Sakura blooms across Japan. The Hanami festival celebrates the coming of the spring season and is the time to take a stroll and view the blooming cherry trees. The cherry blossom symbolizes feminine beauty, the feminine principle and love. Cherry blossoms, with their short blooming times, are believed to represent the transient nature of life. Sencha Sakura is a blend of rose peel, rose petals, jasmine and cherry fruit, which accentuate the smooth, sweet and refreshing character of our deep-steamed Sencha.

Taste the difference.

Sencha teas are produced by steaming the tea leaves, before drying, giving them higher levels of vitamins and anti-oxidants than other green teas. Sen meaning green and cha meaning tea, sencha translates literally as 'green tea'. It has a crisp, light refreshing taste.

Health Benefits;

The secret of Chinese Sencha lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallo-catechin gallate  (EGCG) - one of the most powerful polyphenols (natural antioxidants) found in green tea.

EGCG has also been reported as effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the formation of abnormal blood clots (thrombosis); considered among the leading causes of heart attacks and strokes.

Other health benefits indicated through scientific study include :

Helping to prevent tooth decay and reduce bacteria that causes halitosis (through naturally occurring fluoride)
