Tanzania GFOP Livingstonia

Africa has been producing consistently better teas, and we have begun sourcing greater quantities from their tea growing regions. Livingstonia GFOP (golden flowery orange pekoe), from Tanzania, is named for the famous 19th century explorer David Livingstone. This full leaf tea is reminiscent of a high grown Ceylon light and lively. It seems to enjoy milk too.

Details: Livingstonia is another orthodox (old-school) style tea, following in the footsteps of Kenya Milima. So, in contrast to most other African teas, Livingstonia is light and subtle. This tea comes from Tanzania.

Dry Leaves: Tawny brown leaves that are larger than most other African teas, with some lighter colored pieces. GFOP is how the tea is described in the tea trade. The FOP (Flowery Orange Pekoe) refers to larger sized leaves and the G (Golden) refers to its golden tips.

Liquor: Light brown.

Aroma: Citrus with hints of spice, this tea is reminiscent of a nice Ceylon tea.

Caffeine Level: Caffeinated

Body: This is a light bodied black tea.

Flavors: Citrus and spice mix nicely together. Easy on the milk and sugar, they will overpower the subtle flavors.
